Olivia VoldarenvsOloro, Ageless AsceticRith, the Awakener

For the final game of the evening, I decided to go with a bit quicker vampire. I had plenty of lands in my opening hand so it was all cool.  I played Vampire Interloper turn 2 and Rakish Heir turn 3 and just started swinging at Oloro to counteract the life gain. Turn 4 was Pawn of Ulamog (and I had Vein Drinker, and both double-faced Vampires in my hand).

I played Olivia and used her to steal Rith (who had built up the first of many small armies of Saprolings and Hobgoblins). Rith tried to cast the wrath that doesn’t hit tokens, but Oloro Counterlashes it into…

Final Judgment (a wrath for a wrath).

So I play Kalitas, Bloodchief of Ghet next and then Fiend of Shadows. Rith builds up some new stuff via crazy Sprout Swarming. Oloro plays

Planar Cleansing.

So I play Pulse Tracker and Vein Drinker and Rith plays Elspeth Tirel and makes lots of guys, so Oloro plays

Merciless Eviction (naming creatures).

So I replay Olivia and Oloro plays Bribery to get my Falkenrath Aristocrat to kill Elspeth.  Then Rith does ridiculous stuff and has an Avenger of Zendikar and a Druid’s Repository (and still has Sprout Swarm).  So I cast Sorin Markov, put him to 10, am able to swing for 8 and hope that Oloro can kill Rith (he does).  I get Sorin back up to 3 and then he gets Take Possessioned (which I knew Oloro had, but forgot that it takes ANY permanent) and I go to 10, and my plan of 1-shotting Oloro next turn is out.  I’m able to get him to 18 commander damage, but then Ashen Rider exiles Olivia (and the Bat that I had and the Vampire maker). And I replay her, and Ashen rider comes back again and gets rid of her, and I scoop because it’s time to go.  Sooooo close.

About the Deck (tapped out coming someday)

This is pretty much just a fun Vampire Tribal / Blood Theme deck. It plays a lot of the Red Vampires and several of the black ones. It also has Lyzolda and some other cool looking blood-related cards.  I feel like, despite having many similar cards, it plays differently than my Drana all-foil Vampire tribal.  I use Olivia more for getting huge and smashing face than as a vampire-conversion unit.  She loves Blade of the Bloodchief.
