Game #170: Freyalise, Llanowar’s Fury

Game #170: Freyalise, Llanowar’s Fury
Date: 2015-05-13
Location: Family Game Store, Savage, MD
vs. Rhys the Redeemed; Shauku, the Endbringer; Horde of Notions
Result: Neutral Loss

Freyalise, Llanowar's Fury, Magic, Commander 2014vsHorde of Notions, Magic, LorwynShauku, Endbringer, Magic, MirageRhys the Redeemed, Magic, Shadowmoor

I started with 2 forests and drew into a Myriad Landscape, and play a few decent elves. Rhys started early with an Essence Warden, Skullclamp and other stuff into an early Kozilek, Horde of notion gets a 5-0 Fact or Fiction split, and Shauku wipes the board and uses Sorin to put Rhys down to 10.

All of Shauku’s lands get destroyed and he scoops. Horde of Notions pounds me down to 1. Rhys tries some tricks, but Horde has a stupid Craterhoof Behemoth (or something like that) on a Hideaway land, and I can’t do math, and scoop.

About the Deck: (tapped out someday)
I started building another deck and ended up cutting the Elves from it and they ended up here. I didn’t want to play a dumb elf general, and I liked the idea of Freyalise as a non threatening value generator. I think there is a combo in there with -1/-1 counters.  Kaysa is the alternate general for this deck because of her Rebecca Guay art.

Game #91: Experiment Kraj

Game #91: Experiment Kraj
Date: 2013-12-23
Location: Mom’s Kitchen Table, Duluth, MN
Vs. Teneb the Harvester
Result: silly Win

Experiment Kraj, Magic, DissensionvsTeneb, the Harvester, Magic, Planar Chaos

One last game before bed time. I pulled out Kraj, and my brother took out Teneb. I had a 3 land hand, plus an Essence Warden and a Krosan Restorer. He had a bunch of lands and Buried Alive for It That Betrays, Massacre Wurm and something else and then cast a Corpse Connoiseur.

I played Ascetiscim, Gaea’s Cradle, Mana Reflection and 1000-Year Elixir. Then a Doubling Season and a Vigean Hydropon. It was dumb. Ascetism got Mortified and a giant Kraj (who was putting like 10 counters on things per turn) got Doom Bladed.  Teneb Hit the board, but I had a Tradewind Rider active and he got bounced. Then Kraj got recast, pumped to 22/22 and swung to end the game

About the Deck (http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/krajs-elven-experiment/)

I think this was the second deck I ever built, perhaps 3rd after a retired Niv-Mizzet deck.  The goal is to make Kraj do a lot of cool things.  This is probably the most “Elf” deck that I have as well.  The list posted above has been changed a bit in since I originally posted it, but I haven’t updated the Tapped Out.   I think it’s actually gotten a bit less “elfy” to accommodate more things for Kraj to Experiment on. Illusionists Bracers are a cool new addition, and I really like Quicksilver Elemental and things that put counters on my opponents creatures.  Morphling is a star in this deck as well. I should probably get a Aetherling in there somewhere also.

Game #37 : Rhys the Exiled

Game #37 : Rhys the Exiled
Date: 2013-07-11
Location: my childhood home, Duluth,MN
vs: Sygg, River Guide  (my deck)
Result: Fun Win

Rhys the ExiledVSSygg, River Guide

Both my brother and I were in town. We started playing EDH at the same time a few summers ago, and mostly played 2 player games.  He brought all of his cards home except his decks, so I let him borrow one of mine.  We added in Planechase to make the game more interesting.

I picked Rhys in his honor (since it’s his middle name… also it’s pronounced like “Reese/Reece” not  “Riss/Rizz/Rice/Ryes”), he picked Sygg for an Elves vs. Fish battle.

We started on Gavony. I kept a 1 land hand, but was able to draw into lands to play an Elvish Arch Druid. He dropped a Reliquary tower, and was able to get Sygg on board on turn 3, and play a Harpoon Sniper.

We planeswalked to the Talon Gates. I suspended a card and rolled chaos.  He suspended a Leech Bonder, Umbral Mantle, and  Mirrorweave. I played Glissa the Traitor and suspended 3 other cards.  We moved to Onakke Catacombs, I rolled Chaos and swung, but Glissa died to Harpoon Sniper, then we were off  to Kessig, and he rolled Chaos to make his fish into wolves and swung. He also had a Viridian Longbow at this point

I played a Deathrender and a Heedless one. Had been swinging with Rhys and Heedless one to do some damage and gain some life.  We had moved to Grove of the Dreampod, but it wasn’t working well for either of us, and we moved to Mt. Keralia (And both rolled chaos)

His Mirrorweave had unsuspended at this point and suddenly we all had 12/12+ Heedless One’s.  He swung, but I was able to absorb the attack, and follow up with the kill the next turn.  Had he realized how Umbral Mantle worked, he might have had me with Generals damage earlier (I was up to 16).

About the Deck (http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/dark-elves-and-spiders/)

This deck is about the Dark Elves, and also features several Spiders, and few minor swords and or scimitar equipment. It probably needs a Panther Warriors.  It’s mostly a silly theme deck, and I’ve only played it twice, but it has performed better than I expected (which were pretty low expectations)
